Setting up DNS records

How to point your domain to your website or an external service with A, CNAME, MX and TXT records.

  1. 1

Log in to the customer panel and open your domain under Domains.

  2. 2

Choose DNS records. You see the existing records: A (IP address), CNAME (alias), MX (email) and TXT (verification, SPF).

  3. 3

Add a record with name, type and value. For a website this is usually an A record with the server IP address; "@" stands for the domain itself, "www" for the subdomain.

  4. 4

Save. Changes are active on our nameservers within minutes; elsewhere on the internet it can take up to 24 hours (TTL).

  5. 5

Using external nameservers? Then you manage the records there, not with us; change the nameservers under Nameservers if needed.

Tip: Never remove the MX records if you use email with us; otherwise your mail stops arriving.
